NEPHROLOGY

It is the branch of medicine that deals with the problems related to the Kidneys.  The kidneys are a pair of bean shaped organs, which are about the size of a cell phone (10-11cm). The most important function of the kidney is to filter blood and remove the wastes from it. It also maintains blood pressure and secretes certain important hormones. The kidneys receive about 20% of the blood pumped by the heart.
