CARDIOLOGY

Cardiology is the branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the Heart. The heart is basically made up of muscle that pumps blood to the lungs (impure) and the rest of the body (pure). An average human heart beats about 1 million times a day and pumps about 1.5 gallons of blood every minute.

WHEN TO SUSPECT HEART DISEASE?

  • The most common symptom is Chest pain which can present as – discomfort, burning, heaviness or squeezing sensation in the chest.
  • Shortness of breath on walking short distances
  • Fast beating heart
  • Weakness
  • Profuse sweating
  • Long lasting cough
  • Swelling in the feet
